Congressman
Bill Grant served four years in the U.S. House from the Second
District of Florida. His Congressional district encompassed the
Tallahassee and the surrounding area. Prior to being elected to
the House, Congressman Grant served two terms in the Florida State
Senate and was president of a North Florida bank.
Congressman
Grant served on the Agriculture Committee, Transportation Committee,
Public Works Committee, Government Affairs Committee and the Select
Committee on Narcotics. He also served on the Subcommittees of
Livestock, Dairy and Poultry, Tobacco and Peanuts, Economic Development
and Surface Transportation.
First elected
to Congress as a conservative Democrat, Congressman Grant ultimately
switched to the Republican Party because of ideological reasons.
He was subsequently appointed to a leadership position as the
Republican Southeastern Regional House Whip. After leaving Congress,
he was the Republican nominee for U.S. Senator in 1992.
Congressman
Grant has concentrated on international trade and diplomatic issues
for clients dealing with foreign countries. Because of his specialized
knowledge and professional relationships, he has been extremely
successful in helping clients in Africa and the Middle East.
Congressman
Grant also brings a broad knowledge of finance and banking experience.
As a former commercial banker, he has extensive trade and finance
experience. He has represented the United States Government as
an informal liaison for sensitive issues with various foreign
governments (including Russia and Somalia).
Congressman
Grant received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State
University and engaged in graduate work at the University of Florida.
He is married, with two children.
