Congressman
Bob Hanrahan was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives
in 1972. A Republican, his district encompassed parts of Chicago
and the south suburban area.
During his
House tenure, Congressman Hanrahan initiated legislation and won
financial support from Congress for two multi-million transportation
projects in his district. He also served on the committees and
subcommittees handling energy, surface transportation, water resources,
public buildings & grounds, and government operations.
During the
period when Dick Cheney served as President Ford's White House
Chief of Staff, Congressman Hanrahan was appointed and served
as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Education (1975-77). While serving
as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Education, Congressman
Hanrahan provided comprehensive support to program development,
management, evaluation and participated in the analysis and determination
of national education policy, with the US Commissioner of Education
and the Assistant Secretary for Education.

Hanrahan has a proven record in business development and marketing.
He was the Senior Associate and lead person in marketing, developing
and winning a $2.4 million Mentor/Protégé Program
(DOD) contract award to Booz-Allen & Hamilton, Inc.
Before joining
Advantage, Congressman Hanrahan served as President of RPH &
Associates, a management consulting firm working with clients
in government relations, marketing, business development, lobbying
and fundraising. Congressman Hanrahan has been extremely successful
in helping clients locate grants from government and foundation
dollars for specific projects. For example, he was awarded a $75,000
Exxon Foundation Grant for his innovative ideas on helping future
college students gain entrance to college and universities when
he served as Executive Director of the National Association. of
College Admissions Counselors.
Prior to serving
in Congress, he worked as a teacher, school guidance counselor
and administrator. Congressman Hanrahan was elected Bloom Township
Auditor (1960-64) and Cook County Superintendent of Schools (1967-71).
After leaving Congress, he was elected to a term on the Lake County
Commission (1980-82). He has also served as Vice President of
the Tobacco Institute and as Executive Director of the American
Security Council Foundation.
Congressman
Hanrahan holds a Masters Degree from Bowling Green State University
and two honorary doctorates. He is married to Barbara-Ann Hanrahan.
They have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
